Priestesses in white robes, climbing

to the Acropolis- abode of sanctity and learning.

Journeying on the mysterious road, approaching the pure light.

A poem by Harry Costin- inspired by the painting

The Procession

Five guardians

of Wisdom old

climb the Path

that leads to the Temple.

The moon above

Rides the clouds

Like a heavenly arch.

Stars light up the heavens

And the temple rises above…

Its columns like arms

Lifted and praying

To the sky blue of hope

Beyond all earthly delusions.
